Sunken Garden

The brief was to create a new seating area, and a formal pond, in a former sunken rose garden.

The garden benefits from original brick walls on two sides creating a sheltered space, and provides an ideal home for four mature trachycarpus which add height and drama to the scheme. A favourite old bench was restored and included in the design; a lovely place to sit overlooking the lily filled pond.

The sandstone terrace is embellished with an inlaid pattern of bricks, emphasised by urns of colourful agapanthus. Dining on the terrace is a great pleasure, and offers views out to the countryside, and views back over the lily pool to the cascade, and wall mural which is reflected in the rill.
